Hachiku

Hachiku's unique home-made bedroom pop transcends you to an infinite abyss filled with imaginary friends, polar bears and zombie slayers. Inspired by other do-it-yourself artists (think: Grimes), Hachiku, a.k.a Anika Ostendorf, writes and produces shoegaze pop with an avant-garde twist from whichever bedroom she’s currently inhabiting.

Born in Detroit but raised in Germany, Ostendorf is what can be best described as a “global artist" whose bedroom studios are continuously changing. She began to form her sound at the age of age sixteen on a road trip encompassing 42 U.S. states (accompanied only by her dog, Lexus) before relocating to London and recently Melbourne, further developing her music across the globe. Her unique brand of layered glitter-pop paints a dreamy landscape of monumental sound, each song carrying the listener on a melodic journey. She has opened for Courtney Barnett throughout Europe in 2015 and continues to collaborate with Milk! Records in Australia.

Ostendorf is now permanently based in Melbourne and plans to release her debut EP in mid-2017.
